Focus on children’s rights

What do you do if you feel that something is wrong at home? How does the duty to report violence or neglect work? In order to be able to protect the children even better, the entire ASAS team has worked hard in recent months – under the guidance of professionals – to write a protocol on the rights of the child. The children were also taught about their own rights and obligations. A wonderful form of professionalisation of our partner! In addition, there have been talks with CRAS, the local organisation of social work.

Preparations for the move in full swing, ASAS continues at full speed

Until the new accommodation is ready, ASAS will have to change its location continuously. These are turbulent times. In the meantime, activities continued at full speed. There was a lot on the agenda: hockey, capoeira, triathlon, crafts for fine motor skills and nature lessons. Of course, the social worker continued to work as well, making several visits to the communities. And the remedial educationalist accompanied the children as usual. In short, during the preparations for the move, the ‘shop’ simply remained open.

Celebrations, healthy food and sustainable energy

There were also celebrations: first at Easter, then during the Festa Junina (a typical Brazilian festival). Between all the festivities there was also attention for healthy food; something that most children don’t get at home. To teach them that ‘celebrating’ something can be much healthier, they receive a piece of cake on birthdays that contains much less sugar than usual. Good for the awareness! And…. just as festive.
Finally, the children got an interesting lecture on the importance of solar energy: soon the new building will be powered by solar panels. A nice, sustainable step forward.

The containers are getting color!

For those who follow us on social media, it is already clear: our new home is starting to look beautiful! Toilets and bathrooms have been installed, the sewer connection has been made and the plan is to provide at least two containers (the Art container and the container you see first when you drive by) with beautiful paintings by a Brazilian artist. This is all done in consultation and with the help of the children. So it promises to be a beautiful, colorful whole.
The costs also seem to remain fairly within budget and ASAS itself is contributing its fair share. In short, the opening party is fast approaching!

Travelling with us?

Would you like to come along to Brazil? To visit the project? To see with your own eyes who and what ASAS is? And what they do? Then send an email to info@power2fly.nl.
At the end of September we will go to the project with a group to open the new accommodation. Of course, we will make a nice report afterwards to inform you all about it.
For the next trip: first come, first served. The house has a limited number of sleeping places. So react quickly, or already sign up for next year: we will definitely organise another trip in 2023.

Support our projects, monthly, yearly?

Every form of support is very welcome to us. Brazil has become more expensive and there will be room for more children and young people in our new accommodation. So we will also need more financial scope. A nice idea is to support us monthly or yearly. Because we are an ANBI foundation, there are possibilities to make it tax deductible. Lucky cards: always special!

Order them now and give someone else a ribbon!

They are still there! And what is nicer to give away than a gift that makes someone in the Netherlands and in Brazil happier?

The idea is simple: we have cards with 1, 2 or 3 lucky ribbons (for €15, €25 or €50). You give such a card to yourself or someone else. The proceeds will go entirely to the projects of Power2Fly and thus… to children in Brazil who desperately need our help.

There is literally and figuratively a beautiful Brazilian story attached to the cards: tie a band around someone’s wrist, let that person make a wish and when the band falls off, the wish is fulfilled. Feel free to order more than one: then you can pass on a whole lot of happiness.
