Back to normal (but these are still worrying times)

Finally, ASAS can do what it was founded to do: spend time with the children. The activities have all started and the children can happily participate in the extracurricular activities. That is what we do it for: happy faces by working together for a better future. But… What do we offer again? Here is an overview of our programme: from triathlon, capoeira, art and gardening to hockey, theatre and last but not least the educational activities.

Robotics course: a big success

For our ‘older’ group, we always have to do our best to keep them on board. How do we prevent them from straying or becoming bored? In any case, the special Robotics course is a great success. The young people can practice all kinds of technical skills during this course, but they can also come up with creative solutions. They love it! How great would it be if – with your support – we could offer more activities like this?

Finally, participating in tournaments again!

How nice that there was still some money left to participate in a hockey tournament! A fantastic experience. Because of the game itself, but also because the children played against hockey players from all sorts of other towns and social classes. Moreover, they were allowed to wear their own uniforms (very cool) and they could watch games of “professional” hockey players. The reactions were great. Hockey teacher Jacqueline summarised it as follows: “The children had a great day. They enjoyed the matches and had the feeling that they really counted. Now they all want to be athletes… When is the next tournament?”

Our new home: finally it starts to look like something

These are not easy times in the construction industry: construction costs are rising and deliveries often arrive far too late. Nevertheless, the team in Brazil – with the help of their network – has worked hard to make the impossible possible.

Taking serious steps

Last week the containers were put in place. What a difference that makes! It really starts to look like a serious accommodation now. The containers are nicely put together and form the classrooms. We are not there yet, but serious steps have been taken.

Great job!

Good news is also that we have received a very nice contribution from the KaNS foundation to build a running track cum triathlon course. Great for our activities, but it is also nice (and smart) to involve the neighbourhood in this. They may also use it, of course.

You can also keep up to date with the construction via social media: progress is regularly shared on Facebook, Linkedin and Instagram.

Support our project, every month of every year?

Any kind of support is very welcome to us. Brazil has become more expensive and there will be room for more children and young people in our new accommodation. So we will also need more financial scope. A nice idea is to support us monthly or yearly. Because we are an ANBI foundation, there are possibilities to make it tax deductible. Lucky cards, always special!

Order them now and surprise, for example, a student who has passed his final exams!

They are still there! And what is nicer to give than a gift that makes someone in the Netherlands and in Brazil happier?

The idea is simple: we have cards with 1, 2 or 3 lucky ribbons (for €15, €25 or €50). You give such a card to yourself or someone else. The proceeds will go entirely to the projects of Power2Fly and thus… to children in Brazil who desperately need our help.

There is literally and figuratively a beautiful Brazilian story attached to the cards: tie a band around someone’s wrist, let that person make a wish and when the band falls off, the wish is fulfilled. Feel free to order more than one: then you can pass on a whole lot of happiness.
