The Corona crisis (and its consequences) part II
In March, the corona crisis messed up everyone’s plans in the world. And we are still struggling with the consequences of COVID-19. Where are we standing right now?
In the previous newsletter we wrote about our campaign in collaboration with Wilde Ganzen: the distribution of food packages. In the meantime, we have distributed packages four times and has this promotion been closed (very successfully!). But… the corona virus is still prevalent. We would love to do more. Unfortunately, we cannot make any promises about this yet. In Brazil the borders are still closed and so are the schools/daycares. It is unclear when everything will open again and when people can return to work.
Food packages
The campaign that has just ended, meant that 400 people got a new package every month. We negotiated every time with the supermarkets for the best prices and figured out what materials we could put in for the children. Thinking also about blankets in times of cold.
And not only the ASAS board was involved in the organization; also, the employees, the social worker, a professional photographer, and even the police who in this way support our work.
Priceless
Due to the care in which the entire package was put together, we also provided a lot of emotional support. That turned out to be of enormous value.
Many thanks again to everyone who supported us! All “crisis donors” should have received a personal thankyou from a child.

To give you a glimpse into the importance of the food parcels campaign, we asked several people from the village to tell us about their lives during the pandemic. What has happened and why was the Power2Fly campaign so important to them?

We are going to collaborate with Wilde Ganzen again, this time to build our own building in Brazil. Once again, Wilde Ganzen multiplies every contribution from a donor. Fantastic! Since we could not organize anything because of COVID-19, we had thought of organizing a few stew evenings on a very small scale to update our loyal supporters about the developments in Brazil. To start with our periodical donors who responded very enthusiastically. Unfortunately, we had to postpone this due to the tightened measures.

Lucky tickets for sale again!
The lucky cards are back in!
They are back! Last year our gift cards with Brazilian lucky ribbons were a resounding success. Our entire stock was sold out within 3 months. And rightly so: because what could be better to give away than a gift that makes someone in the Netherlands and Brazil happier?
The idea is simple: we have tickets with 1, 2 or 3 ribbons (for € 15, – or € 25, – or € 50, -). You give such a card to yourself or someone else. All proceeds go to the Power2Fly projects and thus… to children in Brazil who desperately need our help.
